Maldives dive resort:
Reethi Faru

In short: I was during Covid-19 on Maldives island and it was almost a private island. Reethi Faru is a perfect Maldive escape due to tranquillity, friendliness and quality of accommodation. And to focus on sustainability and the marine biology center are just awesome.[...]

Reethi Faru scuba diving

I was right after the the Covid-19 mid of 2020 up on Maldives island. Maldive scuba dive resort Which made it almost a private island at that time. Nevertheless as a conclusion of this Maldives dive resort review the tranquillity, friendliness quality of accommodation were excellent. Most important for the ecology focus and the marine biology center in the island. Not to forget the excellent dive sites and a professional dive center. If you travel don’t miss a sunset at the Dhiyavaru jetty restaurant!

Reethi Faru is located on Filaidhoo in the Raa atoll 160 km northwest from Malé and it is directly connected via seaplane. The flights takes 45 min. The check-in is at the international Malé airport Velana (IATA:MLE) from where a shuttle brings you to the dedicated water terminal on the back side of the airport island. The flight was an adventure and I had a beautiful sight over we were passing. However the plane is rather basic, pretty noisy and a bit bumby.

The Reethi Faru island prepared us a very warm welcome and an easy check-in. As I travelled in 2020 right after the Covid-19 lock downs and during mid-season I felt like being on a private island. Check the video on YouTube, it was a unique experience.

the island impression

Reethi Faru is nestled on the small Filaidhoo island which you can circle in 20 min. and it invite you for an easy morning run on the beach The villas, restaurants and the spa a cozy are snuggled into the jungle like gardens.

Beside the bigger main restaurant the island offers 10 small restaurants across the island with various cuisines. My favorite was the veggie vegan restaurant with an tasteful Indian food style. The coconut spa is centered on the island very quite and indulging you with some of the best treatment I ever enjoyed.

Reethi Faru Accommodation

My choice was a beach villa, which at least for me was the best choice. The water villas are a bit remote on the jetty and the garden villas are just hidden into the jungle. But that’s just me, as I love to sunbath at the beach and gazing into the sunset. And the best the beach bar was located the next to the villa – I can recommend the pina colada!

Most important for me was the concept of an ecologically managed island utilizing solar energy and sustainable utilization of all resources. And the very friendly hotel management is more than happy to explain the proud concept of Reethi Faru resort.

How are the Raa Atoll dive sites?

a Maldives dive resort review definitely needs to talk about scuba diving and its amazing in the north of Maldives. At least following me coral bleaching effected the north of Maldives less than the south. Hence we had some really nice coral pinnacle with lots of turtles and lobster. Most unique in the north is for sure during the season between August to November with lots on Manta. Most famous in neighbor Baa Atoll and the UNESCO Biosphere reserve Hanifaru Bay.

How was the scuba diving?

The sea-explorer dive center is professionally managed with new rental equipment and solid compressed air tanks. They have good dive Dhonies and the diveguides for sure will find the best spots and highlight during each trip.

Also at the marine protection Reethi Faru resort is exemplary. There is a resident marine biologist, who involves in various Manta ray and coral projects. Beside marine biology presentation in the main bar in the evening you can as a guest also join the and sponsor the replanting of corals. I joined the fun and in the photo you find some of the tiny coral we regrow and planted it back into the reef.
